The good news is that Unreal II is better than Unreal. It's both more eventful and more focused. Unlike the first game, it doesn't reach its dramatic climax during the first couple of missions and then peter out over the next 30 hours of endless, forgettable levels. The bad news is that Unreal II isn't as good as the best shooters currently available. It has the look and polish of a great shooter, but the gameplay of a merely good one. It's also a fairly short game with no multiplayer support to speak of.
For the fifth game in a series, Conflict: Denied Ops sure doesn't show any signs of evolution. This might actually be the simplest edition of the shooter franchise that developer Pivotal Games has produced, with gameplay so out of date that it might as well be wearing a plaid flannel shirt and listening to Alice in Chains. But even though the action is a good decade behind the times, the game's rapid-fire pace blurs the fact that you're shooting the same bad guys over and over again. Attractive visuals feature diverse terrain spread all over the globe. Co-operative play is another highlight, which earns the game some applause all by itself, given how this shooter feature is so often asked for and so rarely delivered. So even though nothing here is going to slow down traffic--let alone stop it--such a speedy mindless shooter like this is ideal for those moments when you want to switch off the synapses and play Rambo for a few hours.

Frontline: Fields of Thunder As the largest tank battle of all time, Kursk was the ultimate battle of the titans. It caused the global powers to focus vast amounts of resources on improving the design and production of their tanks, representing the last great conventional arms race before the advent of the atomic bomb. The battle at the Kursk Salient was Germany’s last attempt to avoid defeat in World War II. This conflict was marked by a ferocity that had not been seen by either side and has been remembered as the largest tank engagement in world history.

Anno 1701: The Sunken Dragon Hooray! A German masterpiece has been released by group PROCYON. This game is something you should have played at least once. In my opinion Anno persuades with a brilliant economic system, it’s a little weak in the aspect of how battles work though (e.g. in a sea fight the bigger fleet wins, no need to choose the type of ammo, or be aware of the wind direction), but that’s something you just have to overlook. Set sail to a new world!
